Well, I went out in search of the all elusive 5 star evening, and ended up with a full on 1 star, wish Iíd stayed at home.

Watched the trees swaying all day from the desk and kept tracking the wind on XCWeather smug in the knowledge that I would arrive after work ready for a corking session.

Come 5 oíclock I was delayed leaving and than caught all the rush hour traffic through Bournemouth, after ‡ hour of chewing the steering wheel I arrived at Poole to see three people out planning nicely on low 6M sails.

Rushed to rig the small board and 6M, but noticed the wind steadily drop. Two people came in and said that it did keep dropping and they were then underpowered on 6.2 and 6.4. Changed my mind and prepared the PowerGlide and 6.7M

By the time I was ready to launch I wished I had rigged the 8M and possibly the Phoenix with the HUGE fin. Also managed to put my knee through my wetsuit as I changed (kept mentioning the ëstitch in timeí concept when there was a small tear in the outer fabric, but never got round to the repair. Now there is a 2inch gap)

Launched to complete apathy! Had a few very slow runs with no hope of getting on the plane. Tried a few fancy low speed manoeuvres, but the wind then dropped so much that I was literally holding the sail up and the waves were making me move faster than the wind.

One brief gust got me on to the plane for about 10M, but no chance of getting into the foot-straps. Eventually gave up after about 1 hour.

Had a few problems packing up and could not help but notice that the wind seemed to be picking up, by the time I drove off there were about 5 people on the water having a great time, largely overpowered on 6 to 7M sailsÖ.GRRRR!

Oh, and I broke a bit off my roof-rack :-(
